More about this event:
The political institution of marriage serves a variety of purposes, some of which have large social impact, for instance the regulation of sexual behavior, the configuration of family structures, the determination of property ownership as well as the promotion of a loving coexistence, childbearing and child rearing, and the strategic cooperation between groups. Such is its multiplicity and range that marriage is a particularly rich subject for philosophical analysis and critique.
The event “Till Reason Do Us Part: Philosophical critiques of marriage” wishes to understand the state of the art regarding this institution, emphasizing the vigor of the discussions around it brought by feminist thought.
